In Conversation with: Randi Pederson, Lil’Atelier’s Designer

February 05, 2021

This week, we wanted to focus on a brand making waves in the world of organic children’s clothing. Lil’Atelier’s stunning collection of garments is all about embracing the beauty of minimalism, natural materials, sustainability and high comfort, with kids clothing that is easy to wear.

We sat down with designer Randi Pederson, to learn more about the Lil’Atelier story, and her focus on “focus on combining cosiness with craft”.

How did the idea of your brand/products originate?

We will like to embrace the beauty of minimalism, natural materials and high comfort, that are easy to wear.

Lil’Atelier’s organic children’s clothing is stunning, with a particular focus on warm hues. What’s the inspiration behind your designs, colours and patterns?

All our collections are inspired by nature and concentrate on texture, colour, mood and hand-drawn elements. Florals, herbs and animals are key in our hand-drawn graphics, and our fabric textures are inspired by nature scenery. The colours are subdued, earthy and thoughtfully composed so previous collections can easily be matched to current collections and last into future seasons.

What are your best-selling products?

Our organic cotton/modal styles with hand-drawn printed graphics.

Do you work locally or nationally?

Internationally

How has Lil’Atelier helped customers in the past?

We create high quality and comfort to affordable prices.

What are your Unique Selling Points (USPs) / how do you stand out from competitors?

  • High quality to affordable prices
  • Thoughtfully composed colour palettes, so previous collections can quickly be phased into current collections and last into future seasons.
  • High focus on combining cosines with craft
  • High focus on sustainability

How did you get where you are today, and how do you plan to move forward?

We have focused on creating a strong brand expression, which is recognisable for consumers. We will continuously keep up with new opportunities within sustainability and focus on combining cosiness with craft.

Where do you see Lil’Atelier in five years?

With new exciting sustainability projects and new product lines. All with the Lil’Atelier vibe.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out or looking to create an organic clothing brand, what would it be?

Make a plan with the most critical focus areas (and never compromises on these) and make a strong design DNA.
